Why horses?

We get asked that ALOT! The short answer: as prey animals, horses have unmatched emotional and physical radars and are adept communicators, usually free from the complications humans tend to attach to relationships. They are able to quickly hone in on what’s really going on and are honest but nonjudgmental. Therefore, they have so much to teach humans.

In partnership with a human professional, Equine-assisted Psychotherapy is a connection with horses that leads to quicker, more efficient, and lasting results than non-experiential in-office work. Clients tend to agree; again and again we’ve been told that Equine Assisted Psychotherapy & Learning feel simple, calming, and make the hard stuff easier to co-exist with. The Strides philosophy is recovery-based; we believe that we are all in a continual process of growth and change and that although some of us may have become scratched and dented, we’re not broken. Strides maintains multiple barn partner locations in and around the Triangle.

It takes courage to step out of the office and into the arena.
